    Title: Aialik Rumble

    Place: Aialik Bay, Alaska ~ Aialik Glacier is just but one of many glaciers in Alaska. Caught in the act of calving within 1/4 mile of the glacier. The roar of the ice crashing into the ocean could be heard for miles.

    Place: Denali National Park ~ The Alaska Range includes Mount Denali (right) known as the Father, Mount Hunter, the son, and Mount Foraker, the Wife. A float plane was caught passing on by.

    Place: Denali National Park ~ Taken from Talkeetna at dusk provided a beautiful setting. It should be noted that dusk was about 10PM. The three mountains of the Alaska Range include Mount Denali on the right, Mount Hunter in the middle, and Mount Foraker on the left.

    Place: Girdwood, Alaska ~ The amazing colors of Alaska going from Spring to Fall. So many vibrant native flowers.

    Title: Bat's Trumpet

    Place: Waimea Valley, Oahu, Hawaii ~ Taken at the Waimea Valley Botanical Garden, located on the North Shore of Oahu. The Trumpet flower is also known as Angels' Trumpet. However, they also resemble a group of hibernating bats.

    Title: Birds in Paradise

    Place: Kauai, Hawaii ~ Taken at the National Tropical Botanical Garden or Allerton Gardens, located in Kauai's beautiful Lawai Valley. Originally called Strelitzia, they became known as the Bird of Paradise because of its resemblance to the species of birds, called "birds of paradise". The vividly bright plumage and form of the bird resemble the shape and bloom of the flower. The bird of paradise flower is also often called the "Crane Flower" due to its bird-like resemblance of the graceful crane.

    Title: Bloom of the GraveYard Tree

    Place: Kauai, Hawaii ~ The Hawaiian plumeria are simple, yet beautiful flowers that grow on small trees and have a very alluring fragrance. Introduced to the Hawaiian Islands in the 19th century, they were used only in cemeteries. Their original name, actually means, “graveyard tree." M ost people didn’t want to wear them, because they saw these flowers as a symbol of death. Today, the plumeria is commonly used to make leis, the hawaiian necklace of flowers.

    Place: Big Island, Hawaii ~ On a back, twisty road outside of Hilo, lies lush tropical forests filled with hanging vines, blooming flowers and this serene waterfall scene with a bridge appearing to lead to nowhere.

    Place: Big Island, Hawaii ~ If one drives to South Point, Naalehu, on the Big Island of Hawaii, you arrive at the Southern most tip in the U.S.A. You can not only visit the Southern Most Bakery, See the Southern Most Cow, but anyone with the courage to do so can Cliff Dive or Jump the 40+ feet into the clear blue Pacific Ocean below.

    Place: Katmai National Park, Brooks Falls, Alaska ~ Three Brown Bear cubs looking for mom as she just swam across the lagoon. Brown Bears are the coastal version of the inland Grizzley.

    Place: Caribbean ~ A beautiful color filled sunset on the Caribbean. The series shows the sunset from beginning to end revealing the bountiful colors, highlights and cloud formations.

  • Firestorm

    Title: Firestorm

    Place: Caribbean ~ This cloud formation is unique in that the color patterns were present mid-day not at sunset as one would think. The shape of the clouds resemble an explosion and together with the colors create what appears to be a Fire Storm. Most unusual.

    Place: Tonasket, Washington ~ Caught this Military Plane running a test flight while hiking through the mountains of north central Washington. Neat perspective as we were at a higher altitude than the plane.

    Place: Moorpark, California ~ The Sumatran Tiger is an endangered species. Ganges was a rescue that found a home at the Exotic Animal Training & Management Program at Moorpark College. I had the pleasure of working with Ganges as a student in this one of kind, world renowned program.

    Place: Punchbowl Glacier, Chugach National Forest, Girdwood, Alaska ~ Taken above the Punchbowl Glacier via helicopter. The intense bluing of the ice is hundreds of years of compaction.

    Place: Glacier Fjiords, Pederson Glacier, Alaska ~ Pederson Glacier is just but one of many glaciers in Alaska. These iceburgs, broken chunks of Pederson Glacier, floating down Upper Lake are much larger than their appearance as 3/4 of iceburgs are below the waters surface.

    Place: Disney World, Florida ~ This curious Eastern Gray Squirrel (Sciurus carlinensis) was very photogenic and she knew it, graciously posing for the camera on the grounds of the Disney Wilderness Lodge Resort.

    Place: Glacier Fjiords, Alaska ~ An Alaskan Red Squirrel caught munching on a nut on a lichen covered limb of a Black Spruce.

  • Lava Skin

    Title: Lava Skin

    Place: Kalapana, Big Island, Hawaii ~ In 1986, the Kilauea Volcano erupted and wiped out the town of Kalapana. This picture is of that old Lava Flow which leads to the Kalapana Black Sand Beach. This image has the look of Elephant Skin. Should be noted the Kilauea Volcano is still active and in 2010 hit the same area again. Only 35 homes remain in the area, and yes people still live there.

    Place: Tonasket, Washington ~ This gorgeous rainbow appeared just after a passing thunder storm while driving past new and old homesteads in the beautiful Okanogan countryside.

  • Mussel Cave

    Title: Mussel Cave

    Place: Fort Bragg, California ~ At the bottom of some small cliffs at this particular beach in Fort Bragg, there were many rock outcroppings lined with hundreds of thousands of mussels all surrounding the many tide pools and their inhabitants. What led to the scaling down of this cliff, a lot of fishing line hooked around the rocks and mussels awaiting innocent sea life. While cutting away the fishing line noticed the cave formed by mussels.

  • Old Man and the Sea

    Title: Old Man and the Sea

    Place: Caribbean ~ While cruising through the Caribbean, this unique cloud formation, together with the cascades of colors offered by the setting sun, was reminiscent of an old man fishing at sea. Reminded me of the classic book by Ernest Hemmingway.

  • Paddle-tailed Darner

    Title: Paddle-Tailed Darner

    Place: Turnagain Arm, Alaska ~ While viewing Beluga Whales breaching off in the distance in the waters of the Turnagain Arm, this Paddle-Tailed Darner Dragon Fly just happened by.

  • Pirates Cove

    Title: Pirates Cove

    Place: Crescent City, California ~ Occasionally a few restored old pirates ships enter the bays in Humboldt and Del Norte Counties for tourism rides. This is one of two that visited Crescent City Harbor. Look closely and you can see three flags on the masts, with two American Flags on either side of a Pirates Flag.

    Place: Wonder Lake, Denali National Park, Alaska ~ This Caribou with antlers of blood red having just shed his velvet entering rut.
